Featured bands

Petite N‘dodo

Petite N‘Dodo are a small but perfectly formed version of N‘Dodo - Iain Hunter‘s re-incarnation of Afro/Pop group No Dodo from the nineties. This time the rhythmic heart drives a body of textured guitar sounds, flapping and flowing with sinuous and feathery saxophone, all supported by resonant double bass. There‘s life in the old bird yet! Listen, enjoy and most importantly.... DANCE!

and Lancaster Jazz Quartet - Jazz standards and beyond, from Adderley to Zappa plus guests

Beyond FGM is a group of local midwives and others who are supporting a community led organisation in Kenya, Beyond the Knife. We aim to divert girls from female genital mutilation by providing an alternative rite of passage at puberty, that includes a week of citizenship, human rights and health education as well as providing celebration and public recognition of their change of status. We also work with traditional birth attendants and others to promote safe practices around childbirth and improved reproductive health. This approach has been very successful and so far we have worked with approximately 600 girls. This year we hope to bring this new rite of passage to new communities. For more about our work, go to
