Global Link DEC | Activities

Global Link offers a range of activities and workshop for both adults and young people. Follow the links below for more information.

Digital Storytelling

A digital story is a 1-3 minute on-line ‘film’, combining the recording of your voice reading a personal story that you have written with personal photos to illustrate the story. Digital storytelling combines the tradition of storytelling with contemporary technical tools: Using a standard camera, computer, voice recorder and software practically everyone can write, tell, produce and publish their own story.

Documenting Dissent

This project will work with 10 school and community groups to research and document the history of religious and political dissent in Lancaster, particularly in relation to the Castle. This will include accessing original archive material, learning from local historians, and gathering other research material such as oral histories.

Global Artist Network

Supported by the Arts Council, Global Link has set up a directory of artists whose work focuses specifically on the global dimension for schools and who have roots or links to the Global South (Africa, Asia and Latin America). Aimed at schools in the North West of England, the directory links schools with artists and supports workshops with information and funding.

Global Youth Work

Global Link has developed a series of projects to raise awarness of the MDGs for schools and youth groups. These include Dollar a Day events, Refugee Simulations and street games.

Science and the Global Dimension

As part of our Science and the Global Dimension project, Global Link has produced a series of resource packs relating to different science topics that can be used as stimulus for introducing the Global Dimension into science lessons.

Global Link runs workshops exploring a range of issues including identity and diversity, bullying and racism, migration, human rights and social justice, climate change and sustainability. We use creative and critical thinking methodologies to stimulate engagement with the issues.
