Global Link Training
Global Link offers a number of Continuing Professional Development courses and training opportunities for teachers.
All courses can be delivered as twilights in your school.
The following courses are approved by the Global Learning Programme England, which enables GLP-participating schools to use their CPD e-credits. These courses can be delivered by Global Link in your school with up 20 members of staff including those from surrounding schools.

| Global Teacher Award Level 1 |
Explores concepts, knowledge and approaches related to global learning and how this relates to our practice as teachers including concepts, values, diversity, sustainable development, interdependence, human rights, conflict resolution, social justice and global citizenship. |
| Preparing for Community cohesion: refugees, asylum and migration | Become more confident approaching controversial issues relating to asylum-seeking and migration, and be introduced to a range of activities and resources to support community cohesion. |
| The Migration Crisis
Twilight course |
This course will explore the relationship between conflict, poverty and migration and possible international responses to the crisis. It will enable teachers to deliver a full day European Summit simulation on the refugee crisis where pupils role play countries and other stakeholders at a conference simulation which involves presentations, negotiations and voting. |
| Local History and Global Learning | The course will explore ways to develop global learning through local history, focusing on the Pendle Witch Trials, Lancaster Castle and World War 1. Suitable for both primary and secondary schools. |
| Poverty & Development | For both primary and secondary schools, this course increases teachers′ own knowledge of development and poverty. |
| Think Global Through P4C | The course will deepen teacher’s understanding of the values, skills and concepts relating to the global dimension and introduce teachers to critical thinking as a key global learning skill, focusing on the Philosophy for Children methodology. |
| British Values & Global Learning
Twilight course |
This course aims to develop an understanding of British values and how they can facilitate deeper global learning. The course will explore OFSTED’s requirements relating to British Values and SMSC and the relationship between British values and Global values. |
| KS3 English and Global Learning | The course enables teachers to think about ‘English’ Language and Literature from a global perspective and the role of the subject in promoting active, global citizens. |
| KS3 Arts and the Global Dimension | The course enables teachers to think about arts education from a global perspective and its role in promoting active, global citizens. |
| Global Visions for Primary Schools | Led by Anthony Finnerty, this course will emphasise the need to cultivate in young people a vision of global citizenship which is validated by world faiths. |
| Cross-curricular Global Learning in Primary Schools | Be inspired by the vision of global learning and its critical place in education, deepen knowledge of the key concepts of global education and integrate into all areas of school life. |
| Run your own United Nations Summit
Twilight Course |
This course will introduce teachers to the Sustainable Development Goals, and prepare teachers to a tried and tested whole year group practical global learning activity. At the UN Summit simulation pupils adopt international roles (eg countries, NGOs, the media, the United Nations), research their views on the Sustainable Development Goals and then participate in a simulated conference, involving presentations, negotiations and voting. |
| Introduction to the International School Award | Provides a practical introduction to the British Council’s International School Award (ISA) and explores ways the ISA can build on existing school practice, while developing pupils’ global citizenship skills through international school partnerships. |
| This course will train teachers to deliver an outdoor learning simulation where pupils ‘experience’ what it is like to live on a dollar a day. | |
| Introduction to the Fair Trade School Award | This course provides a concise and practical introduction to the Fairtrade Schools Award – what it involves, how to apply and the benefits of the award for teachers and pupils, their school and the wider community. |

The Global Learning Programme is a ground-breaking new government initiative to create a national network of schools, committed to helping students make positive contributions to a globalised world by helping teachers deliver effective teaching and learning about development and global issues at Key Stages 2 and 3.
