The most exciting thing in my life, in the UK, is being in Global Link, the times I have spent here with the case workers and with the community, but especially Vaso, Ahmed and the other case workers. Global Link is providing services, not only to me, to all, and achieving its goals and targets… always we see problems are solved as soon as possible and as good as possible. For me it is an exciting place: having food together, playing games together, chatting with others. And so many problems being solved, with referrals to mental health, immigration, housing, every step, every problem, Global Link is solving every one of these. I’m very happy and I’m recommending the service to all. And I want to say thank you for all the people supporting asylum seekers in this area.
I was two times in hospital trying to kill myself because of mental health problems. It’s Global Link that is helping me and supporting me in hospital, even helping with finances, food bank and other things.
In general I cannot compare Global Link and Chester. Global Link is like my home, all asylum seekers, we feel safe here, happy here, supported here. In Chester I felt lost and alone, I was always scared when going outside. It was very bad in Chester, every second of my life I was dying, thinking about suicide, I didn’t get the chance but I had a plan. I was depressed too much, and not only me, others there also felt the same. Here in Lancaster Global Link is like our own home, our own family. Now in Lancaster I feel safe, I feel confident, I feel happy. And when I get doubts I come here, I get a warm welcome, I get motivation and I can be happy again. Mostly I am better now but sometimes I feel stressed at my own health.
I don’t remember any support organisations in Chester, I’m sure there was no one to help us. Except a church, not an office like here, there were some people giving us food, but to get it had to call a lot of places, not like Global Link that has a simple referral procedure.
Miss Vaso has helped me a lot, she has taken me out to the farm, to parks, to hospital in her own car, and has spent money from her own pocket to buy things for me. But in general the case workers are all amazing and special.
Anything I need Global Link are helping me. With immigration, with hospital, food, English classes, my health. Everything I need they are providing.
