Learning from the Past Exhibition to open at last at Lancaster City Museum!

We are excited to announce that, following a delay of over a year caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, our European peace heritage exhibition – ‘Learning from the Past’ (LFTP) – will open at Lancaster City Museum for six weeks from 16 July to 5 September 2021!

Based on our online exhibition, the Museum exhibition will give visitors the chance to see original archive items such as documents, banners and other objects connected with histories of peace activism and internationalism in the years following the First World War. The exhibition will feature some of the stories we uncovered during our Erasmus+ Learning from the Past project, which will be brought to life through display panels and photographs. Alongside these will be original artwork, including 3D collage, paintings, photographs and films, created by young people from across Europe in response to these stories.

A ‘peace timeline’, developed by students from Lancaster Royal Grammar School and local LFTP volunteers, will wrap around the walls, putting our exhibition into a wider historical context. Visitors will be able to interact with our online map and write postcards to the United Nations, based on what they have learned from the exhibition.

We look forward to seeing you at the Museum this summer!
